Two flush bottom track options project only 3/16" above the finished floor creating a beautiful, almost seamless transition from inside to outside.
Weiland's standard and patented drainage flush track systems have both been tested and meet AAMA performance standards.
The flush tracks on multi-panel units are staggered, avoiding the wide or bulky rail road track look of most other systems.
Weiland's hardened, anodized aluminum track has been successfully time tested for over 20 years in coastal and harsh weather environments.
The flush track has no high obstacles or sill to trip over. A transverse drain feature is standard with a patented full drainage track option available to help accommodate variations in flooring materials to further enhance the door system's weather resistance.
Although corrosion resistant, stainless steel caps used by others are typically very thin and soft and extremely prone to denting or other damage. As a result, larger doors may become more difficult to operate over time. In fact, a stainless steel cap may actually contribute to galvanic corrosion depending on what metal it is in contact with.
A surface mounted track is available for certain configurations or when the bottom track cannot be recessed (some remodels).
Our patented track has been specially designed and pre-assembled for easier installation. A built-in marker on the Weiland track assists in accurately installing the finished floor at only 3/16" below the top of the track.
Our custom hardware lifts the door panel, engaging the wheels and allowing it to roll smoothly along the flush track. Unnecessary friction is normally experienced with conventional sliding doors, caused by the dragging and wearing down of weather stripping. And unlike conventional sliders, liftslide panels only rest on the wheels when being moved. This avoids flat spots and difficulty of operation that is experienced with other types of sliding doors over time.
Because the door is lowered when locked, the weight of the panels provide continuous contact between the floor and the double gasket system creating a better weather barrier.
The robust European hardware is engineered to reduce the operating force to move the door and allow increased panel weights up to 880 lbs., making it possible to build much larger doors for expansive openings. Spectacular custom doors as tall as 16' tall and openings as wide as 60' have been built. Please contact Weiland sales for an almost limitless number of system sizes and configurations.
Stainless steel liftslide gear options are available, however they may not be the best option for larger door panels. For over twenty years Weiland has worked closely with European vendors, some with over 100 years of experience, to provide the best components available. Please contact us and we will help you get what you need for your special project.
POCKETING
Pocketing doors disappear into walls, creating an unobstructed view. A pocket door also enhances the seamless transition from the inside out.
Weiland is the only company to offer hurricane rated pocketing liftslide systems. Call us to see what pocketing system might work best for your project.
Pocketing systems up to 16' tall are also available. What can we build for you?
EDGE-PULL
Edge pulls used for pocketing systems are stainless steel and available in either black or mill finish.
REMOVABLE HANDLES & MULTI-POINT LOCKING
The multi-point locking system meets ASTMF 588 and is designed to secure the door panel in a locked position. This feature provides superior security in contrast to the standard type of door lock with only one point of contact.
Removable handles are a great option that allow narrower wall pockets and/or doors to stack flush into the wall pockets or to the side jambs.
Exterior aluminum finger pulls are standard and painted to match the sash color. Stainless steel is available on request at no additional charge.
For custom finishes, Weiland also offers a handle in solid brass.
Keyed cylinders are available with certain configurations.
GLASS
Any glass available up to 1-1/2" thick can be ordered to match most other glass types available and meet any necessary energy requirements.
Because Weiland systems are used in extreme environments, including harsh desert heat and frigid cold ski resorts, we work with many glass suppliers and manufacturers to offer the highest performance glass that is made.
Options include insulated units with tempered glass and various coatings to optimize energy efficiency including laminated, tinted, and other options.
Low E3 and other available coatings greatly reduce heat transfer through glass and also help minimize fading of furniture and carpets that can be caused by harmful UV rays.
Divided lites and lock rails are also available.
The choice for no glass is offered if the client chooses to use a unique glass or would like to have the glazing done on-site by others.
DOOR DESIGN
The aluminum wood door design is a robust aluminum sash with wood interior cladding. The 3-3/16" thick profile includes a 1/2" wood cladding attached to the aluminum profile by a patented fastening system that connects them structurally while separating them physically and thermally. The result is a durable, low maintenance exterior combined with the beauty and warmth of wood on the inside.
Aluminum wood doors have AAMA ratings up to 16' tall with hurricane ratings up to 10-1/2' tall.
When architectural designs dictate a more contemporary look, an all aluminum sash 3-1/4" thick and 3-1/2" wide is also available.
The aluminum liftslide doors by Weiland are stronger and more stable than a standard wood liftslide door, with or without cladding, especially for larger panel sizes.
The Weiland all wood liftslide is like a beautiful piece of furniture. Designed with a laminated sash thickness of 2-5/8", the face measurement can be customized. All wood liftslides are available up to 12' tall.
MATERIALS
Weiland uses only the best raw materials available.
The Weiland flush track is extruded from corrosion resistant aluminum used in marine climates. Installed by Weiland for over 20 years, it is the best choice to withstand the tough salt-water climates along oceanfronts and similar harsh environments.
Our aluminum door profiles are made with 6063 aluminum, a stronger and harder alloy than the thin aluminum cladding used by others.
Weiland uses the highest quality wood species available on the market, enabling our clients to match any custom wood cabinetry. Mahogany, Doug fir, walnut, cherry, alder and many other wood types are often used.
For special projects, customers can also choose any available wood species.
EXTERIOR FINISH
Weiland offers high quality Kynar as its standard exterior finish. Powder coating and anodizing are also available (anodizing will add approximately two weeks to lead times).
Kynar provides outstanding color retention and weather resistance due to a time tested formulation containing a high percentage of resin, meeting AAMA 2605-05 performance requirements.
We will match any clad colors of window manufacturers.
Custom color matching is also available. Just send us a color sample, (some custom or metallic colors may cost more or have longer lead times).
